• History

Calculated Politics is a non-partisan hobby project that is shared free of charge. The site was launched in 2015 as a collaboration between Paul Jorgenson and Christopher D’Angelo. The project began as the result of a friendly wager between Paul and some of his friends and family in the lead-up to the 2004 election.

Paul refined the algorithms and formulae that make up the projection model over the course of the 2006, 2008 and 2011 federal elections. At the same time, Christopher was employing data analytics in other areas, including sports projections and investing.

As longtime friends, Paul and Christopher partnered in 2015 to ramp up the sophistication and automation in the model, bringing it to a level where it could be more easily maintained and shared with the public.

As of 2019, the Calculated Politics endeavour is now administered solely by Christopher after Paul had to step back due to work commitments.

  • One last thing...

This website consumes heavy resources, especially around election time, and does not generate enough money to maintain it.  If you like this website and want it to keep running, please help us stay fueled and buy us a coffee. Every little bit helps.
